From Freedom to Facism

Determined to find the law that requires American citizens to pay income tax, producer Aaron Russo (“The Rose,” “Trading Places”) set out on a journey to find the evidence. Neither left, nor right-wing this startling examination of government exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America since 1913. here

Not Yours to Give

Davy Crocket on the role of government.

Crockett was then the lion of Washington. I was a great admirer of his character, and, having several friends who were intimate with him, I found no difficulty in making his acquaintance. I was fascinated with him, and he seemed to take a fancy to me. I was one day in the lobby of the House of Representatives when a bill was taken up appropriating money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. The life and death of al-Zarqawi

This is a rather lenghty article by a writer who went to Zarqawi's home town to get the complete picture. Very facinating read for me which also reminded me of the stark differences in the way we live our lives compared to those in the Middle East.

An interesting look at the man and the myth. Also, near the end of this article, a confirmation of what I just told a friend here the other day; there will be a new 'bad guy' in Iraq very soon and I have suspected it would be this Sadr guy; it appears someone else agrees with me.

Finally, a very sad reminder of how things are going in Iraq.

Fourth Generation Warfare

Here's a quote from the article: "One way to tell that 4GW is truly new is that we don't even have a name for its participants—typically dismissing them as "terrorists," "extremists," or "thugs." Name calling, though, is not often an effective substitute for strategy."
